There are concerns that the distribution of the muntjac, a specified invasive species in the deer family that devours agricultural crops, will expand. It left Chiba Prefecture, its only habitat on the mainland, and the first one was captured in neighboring Ibaraki Prefecture at the end of May. There have also been reports of sightings in neighboring Saitama Prefecture.
