Gyeonggi-do is the most populous metropolitan government surrounding Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Recently, due to conflict between the ruling and opposition parties within the Provincial Council, the supplementary budget and city/county council constituency delimitation bills were canceled and are attracting attention. This is causing setbacks in the implementation of policies for residents, such as subsidies for high oil prices. As it is the most populous region in Korea, the failure of the provincial council could lead to local administrative paralysis and inconvenience to residents.
