A subsidy is financial assistance provided by the government or large organizations to support certain activities or groups of the population. The term is currently being actively discussed in connection with news from Uzbekistan, where citizens who installed solar panels were allocated almost 74 billion soums in the form of subsidies. This is due to the government program to stimulate the use of renewable energy sources. Such measures are often used to develop priority sectors of the economy, support citizens or encourage environmentally friendly initiatives.
