Real Time Center/Lin Weici reported that in 2024, People's Party Chairman Huang Guochang criticized "Mirror Weekly" on Facebook and at press conferences as a "garbage weekly" and "a thug of Beijing Examination", and was sued by Mirror Media Company for NT$1 million. The first instance found that it was not just verbal abuse and ruled that Huang Guochang was exempt from compensation. Jingjing Media was dissatisfied and filed an appeal. The Taiwan High Court announced its verdict today (19th), still upholding the first instance's opinion and rejecting the appeal. The High Court pointed out that Huang Guochang had a background of studying abroad and should be used to the "junk news" used by British and American people. It also pointed out that this statement was also in line with his usual style, and the whole case can still be appealed.
