The Ministry of National Defense's draft "Special Act on Unmanned Vehicles" aims to procure nearly 210,000 drones and 1,320 small suicide drones within five years, raising doubts about the lack of integration capabilities among domestic manufacturers. A Taiwanese unmanned boat manufacturer recently showcased to Tai Pao a self-developed AI-assisted unmanned boat guidance and control software system, including a "five-in-one integrated" system capable of controlling dozens of "shark groups" of unmanned boats. National Defense Agency unmanned vehicle expert Hsu Chih-hsiang bluntly stated that the technology of Taiwanese unmanned boats is not the issue. The core focus is that the Taiwanese military must quickly clarify the needs for unmanned boats and ships during defense operations. Only then can operators have a clear development direction and continuously iterate and innovate to create unmanned boats and vessels suitable for operations in the Taiwan Strait.
